FAQs for batik painting

1. What is our batik lessons?
Our batik lessons is :
1. Introduction to the tool: tjanting and how to use.
2. Introduction to the dyes: remezols (powder water based)
3. Introduction to basic techniques: straight lines, broken lines, dots and textures.
4. Introduction to the fixative agent (sodium silicate): application and process.
5. Finishing process: washing and wax removal.

2. What kind of materials we need for a batik painting?
Below are the materials we need to prepare before starting batik painting:
1. Tjanting
2. Dyes - remezol and napthol: wax resist
3. Sodium silicate
4. Gas stove
5.Frame - wooden ( 50cm x 50cm standard size)
6.Brushes
7.Plastic cups for putting dyes
8.Drawing block
9.Toilet roll
10.Stainless steel pot for wax
11.Basins
12.Staple gun

14.Water soluble colour pencils
15.Fabric ( 100% cotton or pure silk )

4. What is the size of tjanting ?
The sizes of tjanting is S , SM, M, L

5. For beginners , how many tjanting they have to prepare, what’s the size?
Normally we will suggest the beginners to get the M and L sizes of tjanting.

6. What kind of language we use during the demonstration?
We offer three languages during our demonstration, English, Mandarin and Malay.

7. What kind of hand made batik product we sell ?
Our hand made batik products are batik bookmark, batik photo frame, batik shoes ,
Batik clothing, batik scarf, batik baggage, batik pencil case, batik mobile case, batil greeting card etc. All these products are 100% tms art workshop own.

8. How to registry for our classes?
there is a registration form in the workshop and classes session, kindly download the registration form and mail to us emilia@tmsart.com
